Mr. Frederick Villiers, the veteran war correspondent, the only English correspondent, who has visited Verdun, and who arrived here to-day, states that the defences are impregnable. There are over seventy miles of barbed wire entanglements outside the town. He thinks that the war will last some time, and that the British Fleet •will have to play a more important part in bringing Germany to her knees.
