RELIEF OF KUT-EL-AMARA.
AYLMER'S FORCE WITHIN SEVEN MILES OF TOWN. / ATTEMPT TO DISLODGE ENEMY FAILS. . _— t LONDON, March 10. The official Press Bureau announces that General Sir Percy Lake, in command of the operations in Mesopotamia, reports that G«neral Aylmer, in charge of the British relieving column, advanced on Monday night to the right bank of the Tigris and reached Essim, seven miles east of Kut-cl-Amara, where General Townsllend's force is besieged. •• The British attacked on Wednesday, but were unable to dislodge the enemy, who suffered very severely. Beyond strengthening his position, the enemy has not shown activity. The British casualties were slight.
