WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.

At the monthly meeting of the Auckland Women's Patriotic League, held at the Town Hall, the Mayoress presiding, there was a good attendance. Several new members were nominated and elected. A large batch of correspondence was received, relative principally to the safe arrival and appreciation of the various comforts, etc., sent out by the League to camps at home and at the front. Several magazines published on transports were received, in which also mention was made of the pleasure afforded by the League's provision of literature and games. The Camps Committee reported that all goods for the 10th Reinforcements were packed. A total of nearly 600 parcels were provided for Auckland men. , The Receiving and Despatching Committee appeals for knitted goods of all kinds to be sent in as early as possible to the Town Hall. Stocks were at the lowest possible ebb the committee reported, owing to the many and increasing demands on the League s goods. Approximately 3,000 knitted articles are required for each Reinforcement draft. Fresh articles are urgently needed for the Elevenths. The Literature Committee reported an average out-going of 1,400 books per month to troopships, camps, convalescent homes, etc. The Soldiers' Dependents Committee reported a gradually increasing demand on their care and work. The "Husßifs" and "Schools' " Committees reported on their special work with hussifs and holdalls. The schools have undertaken the latter, and are making good progress. The committee require 2,000 pieces per month of flannel, soft tweed, serge or cloth, 4x5 inches, neatly notched round the edges, and invite those who will undertake the light and easy, but necessary work, to, send them in, tied in bundles of 50 pieces, to the Mayoress, Town Hall, Auckland.
