--ON AND OFF THE FIRING LINE. LONDON, February 25. People Most Save. The National Savings Committee of Great Britain makes an urgent appeal to householders to cut down the number of the servants, shut portion of their houses, do with less elaborate meals, close "'"their hothouses, and otherwise simplify their household arrangements, thus releasing labour, and save money during the war. Strengthening Ale Defence. ' It is officially anonunced that the Earl of Derby has been appointed chairman of the joint committee to cc-OTdinate the naval and military, air services of Great Britain. ;"" , '. .." .. " Dentil of Admiral Pohl. The death of Admiral yon Pohl, exchief of the fleet, is officially announced from Berlin. Admiral yon Pohl acted as chief "of the fleet for a certain period °f the war and then retired. • A New Reward. Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr Asquith said that the Government ■was considering the issuing of a new military medal for bravery in the -field. Story of tie War. Mr Asquith has anounced that it was proposed to issue shortly descriptive accounts of the war, compiled from the official records. Band Grenade Supply. Speaking the House of Commons, Sir A. B. Markham asked if it were a fact that the Germans had a much larger supply of hand grenades than the British. The Under Secretary for Munitions said the Government appreciated the importance of the matter, but it was not in the public interest to go into details. The Way of the Hun. In reply to a quesion in the House of Commons; Sir Edward Grey (Foreign Secretary) said the attention of the Gov-1 ernment had been called to the enemy's j use in Rumania of an article in the j "Labour Leader" regarding the agitation | in Great Britain against military service. Steps had been taken to inform Rumania that the journal was not representative in character.
