FRENCH C.OVERNMENTvS APPRECIATION.
The French Consul in Auckland, M. • lulicn Riporeau. has -reeeiwl from the Department- of Foreign Affairs in Paris instructions to convey the official thanks of the French Government to all those who contributed to the success of the concert orpaniaed and given in the Town Hall on September 30 last, in aid nf the French Red Cross Society.
A tribute to tho work of Mr. "and Madame .J. VVielnert, of Auckland, who contributed very largely to the success of the concert, has born paid them in a letter to .Mr. Wielaert from IX. K;£fi>rpau. as follows:—"By orjjajusing the artistic part of the concert, sclcctiiur the artists, and lending them, Mdmc. Wielaert and yourself have rendered a service which has secured the immedkue success of the soiree, while at thp same lime showing a testimony of friendship towards my countrymen which brinps to you a real title of thp gratefulness of the French people. It affords mc much pleasure to be in this instance the interpreter of the French <;overnmenfs thanks to you and to the members of the Orchestral Society, in the expression "f which I am happy to join personally."
