VICTORIA DELAYED
SHORTAGE OF FIREMEN. TWO MEN WAITED. At 2.30 p.m. to-day the s.a. Victoria had not departed on her trip to southern ports, owing to difficulty in securing the requisite number of firemen. At 4 p.m. yesterday it was expected that the vessel would Bail, but a number of the crew, of whom the majority were firemen, had not arrived to take up their duties on board. At (5 p.m. loading was completed, and 180 passengers awaited the advent of the firemen. The Victoria remained at her berth a.t the King-'s wharf, and it was hoped that by this morning the wanderers would have returned, but the day brought forth little in the way of firemen, and at an early hour this afternoon two more men were still needed to make up the required number. It is thought that during this afternoon the crew will be completed, and the Victoria will Sail on her much delayed voyage. At about 2 p.m. she left her berth at the King's wharf and anchored berth at. the King's wharf, and was anchored in the stream when the "Star" i went to press.
