ZEPPELINS UNABLE TO ASCERTAIN POSITIONS
INACCURATE REPORTS OF RECENT RAID. DUTCH COASTGUARDS FIRE ON RETURNING AIRSHIP. LONDON. February 3. A War Office ar.n.-iuni-ex.ent says th.it the official report from Berlin, with reference to the raid un the British midlands by Zeppelins last Monday, is utterly inaccurate, and is further proof that the raiders are quite unable to ascertain their position, and so shape their course with any degree of certainty. The total casualties arc now reported to be -i 0 killed and 10 injured. A church and chapel were damaged, and the railway in two places was slightly damaged. Two factories, which arc not of military importance, wire badly damaged. The total number of bombs discovered exceeds :!00. The Hermans are exulting over the Zeppelin mids. declaring that the punishment of France and England constitutes a reprisal for t!:e Baralong ca«c. The ■-. icgr-i- liajcttc" gloats over th: fact that the Zcppc!in3 are Germany's monopoly, "England is forced to admit that sii" has no defence." says the paper. "We experience a certain grim satisfaction, notwithstanding that our troops arc not before Paris or London, that we have an arm that rPaehes f.ir enough to bring home to the so-called civilised nations the tricks they have played us.' A Zeppelin, evidently lost in the fog. was discovered at .-me.and. in Holland, living low. The coastguards fired 60 shots at her, some of whi..:i registered hits, and the Zeppelin disappeared.
