AMERICAN OPINION.
CO-OPRATION OF ALLIES. IMPRESSES THE PUBLIC. (Received 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, January 19. 1 The "Daily Telegraph" correspondent at Washington states that dispatches 'declare that England hae secured the assent of the Allies to a formal blockade of German porta. England is perfectly prepared for proteste by neutrals. "It is recognised here," he continues, "that the united front presented by the Allies disconcerts German ropresentatives in America, who hoped to confine the disfueeion to London, without reference to the Allies. The new programme contemplates the virtual extension of the blockade to European neutrals by a rigorous application of the 'ultimate destination' doctrine, -with the object of preventing direct or indirect trade with the Teutonic Powers. Such an object is approved here, except by the GermanAmerican I'resn, which shrieks deliriously." He adds that the British regard euch neutral ports as Rotterdam, and Malmo in Sweden, practically as German ports: during the war, and are only closing them to German commerce. Could the plana for starving the Austriane and Germans be effeciive there would bo a disposition in some quarters of America to welcome the blockade as the ruoet effective way of ending the war. (Received 10.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, January 19. The "World" says that an actual and effective blockade would interfere with American trade, but in a lawful manner. >Vhcr.evcr Britain is prepared to undertake such a blockade, America is bound to acquiesce.
