SUMMER MEETING CONTINUES. SECOND DAY'S RACING. The .Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting will be continued at Ellerslie tomorrow (Thursday), when the Summer Cup and Islington Plate will be tlie principal attractions. The latter event has only | attracted three atxeptors, the regrettable I mishap to the brilliant Warstep causing! her defection, and the most serious opposl-} tion to the crack filly Desert Gold Is j expected to come from Merry Roe. The | latter can be depended upon to run a fast j mile, aud, even if she does not succeed •in defeating Mr T. H. Lowry's flying filly, she is confidently expected to fully extend her. The acceptances as a whole are of a, satisfactory nature, and the afternoon's sport should he of a high-class character.
