FRENCH TRANSPORT SUNK.
STEAMER SAVES 53 KENNO TIDINGS OF REMAINDER. BRTJTAIi SUBMARINE OFFICER, (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, November 21. An officer of the steamer Lady Plymouth tells a story of the French transport Calvabs being submarined in the Mediterranean. He says they picked up a boat containing 40 French soldiers, who had been in the trenches for 15 months., and went going to recruit their health. The officer stated that he saw three soldiers, after losing their hold , on a raft, swim to the submarine, hoping to be taken aboard. The submarine's officer kicked the men's hands till they loosed their hold, and their comrades were obliged to look on helpless while the men drowned. Some were res- , oued in a terribly cut and bruised condition. The Lady" Plymouth saved 53 out , of 800. There "are no tidings of the remainder.
