RECRUITING TRIBUNALS
TO CONSIDER CLAIMS FOR LATER SERVICE. NATIONALLY IMPORTANT WORK. (Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 21. Mr. Walter Long (President of the Local Government Board) has issued instructions whereby every local governing authority in Britain appoints a i tribunal in connection with Lord Derby's recruiting scheme. This tribunal receives applications frem any pereon (It-siring to be placed in a later group, because he is indispensable to a business which may be nationally Important, or for personal business, financial, or domestic reasons. His claims will be referred to the local recruiting officer, who either assents or requires .the tribunal to investigate and adjudicate. An appeal niny be made from the local to the central tribunal. Schedules enumerate the occupations which are nationally important, including munitions, mining, agriculture, railways, and others of cardinal importance to the former. Cliiims placed in such classes may be referred by the Government Departments to the local tribunals.
RECRUITING INCREASED.
(Received 11 a.m.) LONDON", November 21. Recruiting has largeJy increased since yesterday's statement by Earl Derby. Commencing December, the London banks will close at three o'clock, except on Saturday, when they -wi'U clone at one o'clock, with n view to assisting recruiting by releasing a number of Clerks.
