A MEDDLESOME MYSTIC.
KAISEB IN A NEW ROLE. ADVANCE AGENT OF KTJXTTTR. UNDIGNIFIED CROWN PRINCE. (Times and Sydney Sun Services.) (Received 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Juno 21. A nputral traveller from Germany, in describing the Kaiser's early fall from popularity, says: "There were whispers that tlic failure of the advance on Paris was due to the Kaiser's interference with tlie general staff and compelling General yon Moltke to resign. The Kaiser's portrait at the cinema theatres did ixat receive the same applause as the other heroes of the war. People regarded the Kaiser ns an expert meddler in military matters. The Crown Prince, as the victor of Longwy, was immensely popular. The Kaiser quickly changes his tactics. He vanishes from the scene. There were no more speeches, and it was quietly announed that lie was no longer interfering in the war. His whertjabouts was kept secret, and lie was constantly flittin" to the different theatres, until the figure of the Emrieror became occult an<l mysterious. It was seen everywhere at once, and became the symbol of unity. The peoplr now regard him-<is exercising the true functions of a. modem sovereign. He has assumed the Imperial dignity, and is paving the way for what the Germans proudiy believe is their new destiny. Gossip of the Crown Prince's escapades in France and elsewhere was readily believed. His behaviour was regarded as being inconsistent with the dignity of his position. He was held mainly responsible for tTie defeat on the Marne. He appears to be deliberately inviting criticism. He was absent from the baptism of his only daughter." Grenade throwing is the latest sport in and was included in the programme of the Hamburg athletic carnival. ,
