SJI., gave a reserved decision to-day in the case of Rex. v. seven ex■meznbers of the Wanganui County Council, a claim to recover £9 5/ excess of rananthorieed expenditure. The Magistrate decided in regard to the first item (sending a delegate to the conference), that the Council did not act in the execution of any requirements of the counties, and wae not doin<» anything which the Council -vras env powered to do. He gave judgment for £4 for the Department. In regard to travelling expenses of the chairman to the Counties conference, the "Magistrate found the expenditure was justified, and regarded the cum (five guineas), ac an authorised expenditure.
