The body-of a child is missing, and-aa a result two women, Edith Ray (40), married, of Westerham Road, Leytbn, and Mary Potter (32), widow, her sister, have -been committed for trial by the Stratford (London) magistrate. It is alleged that Potter gave birth, to a child in December last. She asserts that the child was born, dead and that she put the body in some bushes at Leytonstone. The sister said the body was thrown into a pond. Police had searcbed-the-placea indicated, but no body had been found, and in consequence no inquest could be Potter toW the. magistrate that she threw the body into the wateiv ______ '.
It is a new departure for a Court not to adjourn for lunch. There was a heavy list at the Magistrate's Court this morning, and Mr R. Singer chanced to say that a case in which he was engaged could not be reached before "2 "p.m. -unless his Worship sat through the luncheon hour.; TMr Kettle_saidj_"l am ;cjuite pre; pared to sit through the luncheon hour," whereupon Air-Singer remarked, "Then 1 am sorry I suggested such a posisibility."
