V.M.C.A. ELOCUTION CLUB.

The first? annual meeting of the V.M.C.A. Elocution Club was held in the association's building last night. The chairman (Mr. R. A. Kenner) presided over a good attendance of members. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted, the latter showing a credit balance. The election of officers for the "ensuing year resulted as follows-. —Chairman, Mr. R. W. MeCohnell; secretary, Mr. E. M." Walters; committee, Messrs. P. J.- Watts, F. E. Ward, and A. T. Linzey; auditor, Mr. J. M. Elliffe. At the conclusion- of the business the retiring chairman (Mr. R. A. Kenner), in view of his approaching marriage, was made the recipient of two hand-somely-bound volumes of Byron and Lowell. Mr. Kenner suitably responded.

The body-of a child is missing, and as a result two women, Edith Ray (40), married, of Westerham Road, Ley ton, and Mary Potter (32), widow, her sister, have -been committed for trial by the Stratford (London) magistrate.
