LANDING OF THE 4TH
HAMILTOX JTBILEE CELEBRATION {By Telegraph—Ow a Correspondent.) / HAMILTON, this day. On August 24 nc.\t FLuniltou intends celebrating the ."ilith anniversary of the landing iv the town of the old 4th WaiItato Regiment, and a meeting of survivors, veterans, and others, was held yesterday afternoon to consider the holding of some function to fittingly mark tie occasion. Mr. Isaac Coates. who occupied the chair, said there were, so far as he knew, only five of the old 4th residing in Hamilton at the present time. Of the remaining two. one was at Ngaruawahia Hid the other in Nelson. There was some dispute as to the actual date of landing, but this eonltl no doubt lie accurately fed. The Mayor, on behalf of tlie burgesses, had offered to entertain tbe vet erans at a banquet, to which the speaker thought the survivors, their wives and descendants should be invited, and an admission fee charged to the general public. After a little discus.-ioti- a committee was set up to wait on the Borough Council in reference to combining the veterans' function with the municipal celebrations.
