HAMILTON AND PANAMA.
PUBLIC BODIES' CONFER—NCE. BIG ADVERTISING SCHEME. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A conference of public bodies' delegates was held in Hamilton yesterday to discuss the proposal to arrange for a Waikato Court at the Panama Exposition. Mr. Gwynn (president of the C——tiiber of Commerce) suggested that Waikato _tould join Auckland in a provincial court, and advert—c extensively by literature. He did not think tflvis district would lose its Wendtity thereby, but would be able to get sufficient support for individual effort.
Mr. Young, MJP., agreed that literature advertising iyas the best, and suggested that it should be with a new to encouraging suitable immigrants.
Mt. ißaaley (chairman of the Waikato County) said it was illegal for local bodies to contribute to such an object. The -Hamilton people were all right when letting other people in for expense. Hamilton Borough, he thought, was the meanest in the world. Waikato county did not rate people to give money -for an exhibition.
A coi——ibtee was set up, including the Mayors of Hamilton. Cambridge, Te Aroha, Te K_ti, Frankton, and presidents of the Winter Show Association, A. and P. Association, the chairmen of the various branches of the Farmers' Union, and presidents of chambers of commerce of different counties in the Waikato, to go into the question of advertising.
