NEW ZEALAKDERS ABROAD. (From Oar Special Correspondent.) LONDON, May 1. Among the 105 medical students granted lietrses to practice by the Royat College of Fhysicians this week were two New Zealanders, namely, Mr. John Ebenezer Kelly Brown, who has completed tlie studies commenced at the Lnivereity of New Zealand at the London Hospital, and —j■ Much Lawrence Middoi—on, of the University of New Zealand,
Tne Rev. Arthur F. Smith, late Vicar of Northco*e, Auckland, •who, since _i_ arrival in England with __ wife and two daughters in 1911, _as been senior curate to Oanon Hawkins, at Ly—i-am, Lanes., has just accepted the benefice of St. Thomas, Moorside, Oldham, and takes up his duties there on •Whitsunday. His daughter, Frances, who is only 12 yea.Ts old, 'has recently passed her third musical examination, and she has to pass only two more -before sitting for the fin—l L.R_——. degree. Both she and her sister are being educated at the Fairhaven High School, Lythant.
Mrs Neil] J. Keith, wile of Br. Keith, of Auckland, -with, her two children, who stayed some time in Scotland before spending a few weeks with the —cv. A. F. and Mrs Smith, of Auckland, -left last month for the Transvaal, where they will remain for several months before finally returning to New Zealand.
The Hon. George Fowlds, of Auckland, spent over a fortnight in London, during which time he was frequently at the House of Commons. While he was here he also addressed a meeting in London on the housing question, with Messrs. Raffan and Nedlson, M_Vs, when Sir Victor Horsley was in the chair, under the auspices of the Kngli A Land Restoration League. A few nights ago he addressed the annual meeting of the Midlands Land Values League. T__ week he and 'his daughter leave on a motor tour through Shakespeare's country, and will attend one of the special performances of Shakespeare plays at Stratford-on-Avon. From there tit ley go through the west and son—i of (England and South Wales, returning to London about —Day 10 for the annaa! meetings of the Congregational Union of England and Wales. On the afternoon of __y 12, _Ir Fowlds is to be given a reception in London by it_e chair—ian of the Colonial MJEsionary Society, and on the 13th is to be entertained at a dinner by members of the House of Commons, at the House. On 'May 22 he has promised to be present at the a—nira.l dinner of the London Chamber of Commerce, and en May —5. the annual dinner of the Royal Colonial Institute, of which he is a member. After that he and Miss Fowlds go motoring fit Trough the east and north of _ngland, and will 6pend the most of •Tune motoring and visiting friends in Scotland. They have arranged to sail on July 22 for America, and hope to catch the mail steamer at Vancouver on September 3 for Auckland.
