GIRL'S TERRIBLE ORDEAL.
FEIGNED DEATH FOR EIGHT HOCKS. FATHER'S HOKEIBLE CBIME. MOTHER AXI> DArGHTEn DEAD. How a voudz woman escaped from the scene of a tragedy by feigning death was described during ibe bearing of a case at Stafford Police, Court mic day last month. James Greenlex, Jgcd tifiy, :\ foreman manager, was changed with the wilful mordrr of his wife-, Annie Sophia, and his dangbter Wilhelniina; also with the attempt.hl mnrdcr of Lizzie, another daughter, by Shooting them with a revolver at their home in i?alt Avenue, Stafford. The principal witness for the prosecution was tie daughter Lizzie, recovering from a bullet wound'in the head. She stated that about seven o'clock in the morning she and her sister -were awakened by the Beensed coming into their bedroom and asking them to go into an adjoining room and look at "Mater." Witness's sister wenl into the. room, gave an agouised cry. and exclaimed, "Whatever have you done?" Witness asked, "Has Up shot her?' . The sister replied, - 'Tes; go for the police." . EIGHT HOURS" AGONY. Grerailey immediately fired at the witness, who stumbled, but regained her feet and ran back into the bedroom with her sister. Accused, who had been downstairs, returned to their bedroom in a few mtantes, gripped hold of Wilhelmina'a hands, and then flred again at toe witness, who, bleeding profusely, dropped into a sitting position. Greenley tired another shot at Lizzie, and she fell 10 the floor He then lifted Wilhelmina, who was on the floor, on to the lied, and also liftr.A witness, but. let her drop. "I remained in that position more than eight hours," sue said. About twenty past three the acrnsefl left the house, and durins his absenre witness escaped and alarmed the 1 neighbours. Pulk-o-Swceant BriiUt stated that Greenley, in reply to ;i question, said. "'lt i> ' the lied. I shot her ;ind my daughters." In the nouse witness found a loaded revolver and spent cartridges. In separate rooms were the dead todies of the wife and daughter, both shot in the head. On the way to the police-station the accused said, "I wish yuu had kept awny a bit longer. 1 can't think how you got to know about it." Inspector Adlcm said that the acensed expressed surprise when he beard that bis danghter Lizzie was alive, and asked if there was any chance of her getting better. Greeffley was committed for trial.
