<. t.MBROKER'S STATEMENT. In his sworn statement to the Official Assignee in Bankruptcy. Harry Winstance given his total liabilities as £«I 8 IS/ and assets £1-14 S/:l. made up as follows: Stock-in-trade £:i-l Ti/.1. plant and fixtures £20, book debts ILU',2 \/7,) estimated to produce £00. Debtor states he was guin-buying for a'firm who guaranteed lii« overdraft up to £1.000. Shortly afterwards a slump set in in the gum trade, causing him to lose from £600 to £SOO. His other liabilities wore incurred in running the business. STOREKEEPERS BANKRUPTCY. Creditors in the citato of Charles P>. Wheeler, storekeeper. (Ireat North Road. Arch Hill, met yesterday afternoon at the Official Assignee's 'oflice at 2.30 o'clock. The debtor stated his liabilities totalled £1„-.U 9/!) and his assets £10.-) 18/3. leaving a deficiency of £1.045 11/7. He gave up work as a saddler owing to ill-health eight years ago and opened a small store. For IS months lie did fairly well, and then he bought a larger business. This also did well for three years, after which be experienced some difficulty in meeting his engagements. He could give no reason for this excepting that lie suspected leakages. For the last three and a-half years, owing to want of ready money, he had been unable to claim the bulk of his trade discounts.
The Official Assipmce was instructed, in company with Mr I. Clarke to realise the stock. Mr. Fisher was also empowered to get the Crown Solicitors opinion as to the position of tlie proof of debt of Mr. H. G. Whitmore in respect to an alleged partnership with the bankrupt.
