TAKAPUNA BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Takapnna Borough Council met last •night, when there were present: The Mayor (Mr. E. W. Alison), and Councillors Grimwade. Ra.vnes. Collins, FtiUerton, Brett, Gaudin, Biss, Warnoci. and Blomfield.
The correspondence included a letter from the borough solicitor re representation <m Auckland Harbour Board; also copies of correspondence between County Clerk and Minister of Marine, in -which the Minister declined to include Takapuna with Northcote, Blrkenhead. and Devonport for the purpose of the forthcoming Harbour Board election. After considerable discussion, it wa6 decided that the Minister of Marine be requested to pass the necessary Order-Ln-Council to hare Takapuna Included with Birkenhcad, Northcote, and Devonport for the pnrpose of the election of a representative to the Auckland HarA Valuation Matter—The Vainer-Gene-ral wrote declining to value tram track and gas mains, and it was decided to refer the matter to the Auckland Suburban Local Bodies' Association. Dedication of Huron Street. —It was decided to defer consideration of this matter, pending receipt of the borough solicitor's decrsion re this and contiguous streets. Water Troughs.—The Town Clerk of Deyonport wrote regarding the supplying of water for the horse trough on the male road, and stating the matter had been referred to the Water Works Committee. Street Improvements.—Mr. 11. G. Garlick's request for an improvement to Cecil Streets and Works Committee for report. A Nuisance.—Mr. M. 1... Richards and four others wrote complaining that pigs In Norwood Road created a nuisance. The owner was notified that the pigs mnst he removed and nuisance abated within 14 day?, and pig-stye removed within one Water Account. —The Town Clerk of Northcote forwarded an account amounting to £113 2/ for water supplied to 31st January, 1914. Koad Formation.—Plans of the proposed formation of Milford and Lake Town Roads and the report on the proposed public right-of-way nt Bayswater were submitted by the Consulting Engineer and referred to the Streets and AVorks Committee for Blytb for blinding to metal in Clifton Road was granted. A. M. Pickford wrote on behalf of ratepayers and residents outside the borough asking for conditions required by Council for roan formation and bridging Wairau River in connection with a proposed coastal road to connect with Milford Road. The matter was referred to the Streets and Works Committee for consideration and conference with Mr. R. Jackson, engineer in charge of proposed Finance Report. —The Finance and Legal Committee's report was adopted after considerable discussion upon the advisability of carrying out works authorised on Hewitl Koad. Bathing Accommodation.—Consideration of the erection of bathing a.-e JimnouaLion on Takapana and Milford beaches, and also declaring gorse nnd blackberry noxious : weeds within the borough, was referred lo a special meeti-ng. to be held on Tuesday next. Water Control Board—lt was unanimously decided that the Mayor (Mr. B. W. Alison) be elected to represent the Council on the Lake Takapnna Board of Control.
