OPENING DAY FIXED. READY BY JUNE 1. (Received 1.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 20. Colonel Goethals. officer in charge of the Panama Canal construction works, announces that the Canal will be. open for merchant shipping on June 1 next.
