(Received 11.15 a.m.) JOHANNESBURG, January 84. The Federation's decision to call oil the general strike is confirmed. Five of those arrested in the Trades Hall were to-day charged with resisting and obstructing the. police during the attempted raid on the 14th. Detective Mcßride stated in evidence that the door was slammed and bolted in his face. A man inside pointed a revolver through tbe glass panel and ordered him to clear out. Counsel for the accused argued that the police should have asked for admission in the name of the King. The Public Prosecutor admitted that this was not done, but thought it waa clear that the occupants resisted tbe police. The Magistrate dismissed the accused, saying that Detective Mcßride clearly meant to enter without saying who he ■was. Nevertheless the men had behaved foolishly, and the Magistrate advised them to return to work. BROTHERS IN AFFLICTION. i ■ (Times-Sydney Sun Special Cable.) JOHANNESBURG, January 21.
