REPORTS FROM THE MINES

ATTITUDE OF THE MEN. TO-DAY WTll SHOW. (Received 1.30 p.m.) JOHANNESBURG, January 15. The situation amongst the miners on the Reef continues on the whple satisfactory on the East Rand. On the West Rand the overnight reports indicate a decided unwillingness on the part of the men to come out. In some cases, as on East Raoid, the employees representing a large section of the men are volunteering for the protection of their respective mines. The Goldnelds group especially, and the Rand mines men. seem well disposed, but to-day is a critical time, and will show whether the miners are responding to the Federation's orders or not.
