CHILD ABDUCTED.
BLUDGEONED BY A STRANGER. An extraordinary incident was reported on October 27 from Corby, near Kettering Ou the precedlug Saturday evening severe', little girls were playing in the street when a well-dressed stranger rode upon a bicycle, offered the girls some chocolate, and asked them to show him the road to the next village. A nine-year-old girl named- Nellie King offered to do so. lie piaced her on the luggage carrier of the bicycle, but instead of stopping at the vllluge mentioned rode about a couple of miles nway. Here she was found later hy a news agent, who wns cycliug along the road. The child -was covered with blood and iv n dazed condition. With difficulty he got her to the next vlllngc. where she stated that the man stopped the bicycle and nsked her to feel the tyres. While she was doing so he struck her a terrible blow on tlie heud aud rode away. Medical examination showed that a steel spike two inches long had been driven into the child's skull. It was extracted with difficulty. The police are actively making investigations.
