TURNED OUT UNSUCCESSFULLY.
The final meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Ellen Adams and Agnes I.Mabel Adams, tearoom proprietresses. Karangahape Road was held this afternoon at the office of Mr. W. (;. Fisher. Official Assirmoc The total ,|ebts were £00 5/4. and the stockin Irade. etc., were valued at C«0. 'Hie principal debtor was llrs. M. K. Clausen £63. tiie Official Assignee reported that the. stock-in-trade, etc.. had been -olri by auction yesterday, and realised over ,trn. Bankrupts. in , hpir statements said that they came to Auckland in FcbruarV last to invest their .mail savin-.. " The tearooms of Mrs. Clausen were purchased on the representation that the profit was ih clear per week. They subsequently round that the takings were not so much as represented. Titer- could not take more than £6 a week. They consulted solicitors, and endeavoured "to -ret their money back as the property was not. up to representations.
The Official Assignee said the state mem. did not sound too well.
Mr. Hall Skelt.on (solicitor for the bankrupts) said it looked very much as if his clients had been swindled.
The meeting was proceeding as the Star"' went to press.
