REASONS FOR EBBING TIDE. I Received 11.15 a-m.) MELBOURNE this day. Sir Geo. H. Reid's third annnal report expresses the opinion that immigration to Australia during the coming year will not be equal to that of the past two years. The principal reasons are the great improvement in labour conditions in Britain, tbe constant changing fares for assisted immigrants, the conditions under which asststeds are accepted, and the increase in the ordinary thirdclass fares and keener competition among the oversea Dominions for British immigrants.
