SMALLPOX IN SYDNEY.
ANOTHER LULL. ONLY THREE CASES YESTERDAY SYDNEY, July 29. »Three cases of smallpox were reported at Sydney to-day and one at Ulmarra. Over 3,000 people were vaccinated yesterday. One case at Adelaide, thought to be smallpox, and quarantined as such, has been declared not to be smallpox. A message from Suva states that the Government, as anticipated, has agreed to modify the quarantine regulations. The Lnion Company's services will continue as before. The Levuka has been replaced by a cargo steamer from Sydney. The companies disclaim any wish to force the Government, and contend that their action was only in the shape of friendly overtures to facilitate shipping operations. STEAMER ARRANGEMENTS. WAEKIMOO ON HER OLD RUN. (Received 10.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The Warrrircoo, arriving on August 20 from Dunedin, takes up the running of the Willochra. which is laid up owing to a decrease in the passenger traffic through the epidemic. Tbe Waipori leaves Melbourne for New Zealand as a special cargo steamer. Owing to the strict quarantine regulations in Fiji it is probable that the. Union Company's island steamers will omit Fiji on the run from Sydney to Auckland, and will call at Fiji on the return voyage. The steamers will thus be out from Sydney for the fall term required by the Fiji regulations.
