FIRE IN ROCKY NOOK.
COTTAGE DESTROYED. 'A four-roomed cottage in Norman Street, Rocky Nook, owned by Mr. W. H. Armstrong, and occupied Dy Mr. F. Andrews, was totally destroyed by fire at about 2.30 this morning. The Mount Albert brigade were in attendance, but as the flames had obtained a strong hold before their arrival they devoted most of their attention to saving the adjoining houses, Mr. Andrews, who was the only occupant of the house at the time of the outbreak, barely had time to escape, and saved none of his belongings. The house was insured in the Imperial Insurance Company for £150, and the contents were covered by a policy in the Alliance office for £75.
FIRE AT PAERQA.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAEROA, Monday. A shedj used by Messrs. 'Finkelstein and Dunsford, as a storeroom for groceries, situated in the main street, was gutted by fire early this morning. The stock, valued at £170, was destroyed. The insurance on the stock is £140, in the Royal Insurance Office. The origin of the fixe is unknown. The Fire Brigade, tinder Captain Moore, stopped the fire from catching the shop, which is situated ■within a few yards of the destroyed ■building.
FIRE AT INVERCARGILL.
(By Tftlegrapli.—Press Association.) BTVERCARGILL, Monday. ■Ai seven-roomed house in Clyde Street, owned and oecu-pied by--Pred. O'Neill, cordial manufacturer, was badly damaged by ire to-night, two rooms being gutted. The damage to the house and furniture will probably amount to £300. The insurances were not asceftainable to-night.
