AN ARTISTIC TRIUMPH.
PRAISE FOB. AUCKLAND SIXGEK. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CKRISTCHUECH, this day. A large audience at His Majesty's Theatre last night, ga-ve Madame Wielaert a most enthusiastic reception on her appearance at the Musical Society's performance. She scored a great artistic triumph, rising superior to the defects of the orchestra, and winning the warmest applause from all parts of the house. Local papers this morning are unstinting in praise. The " Lytteiton Times," which affects a keenly critical style, greets Madame Wielaert as the most delightful soprano Christchurch has ever hea>rd, ajid the " Press" is equally appreciative. The programme will be repeated to-night, and one of the largest audiences seen in the city is already assured.
