HEAVY GALE.

MONOWAI PASSES GISBORNE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, this day. A heavy southerly gale has been blowing since yesterday morning. The steamer Monowai, from Auckland, was unable to communicate with the shore, and proceeded on her voyage to Napier at 7 o'clock this morning. Welcome rains have fallen throughout the district, relieving the situation, which had 'been causing farmers much anxiety.
