HUNTLY.
A highly successful concert, organised for the purpose of starting a boys' drum and fife band in IluntJy, was held in the Miners' Union llall ou Friday evening. Added interest was srfven to the concert as it was jreneraTly kno\ni that the Ponsonby Boys' Drum and Fife Rand would render several items, and particularly so as these lads some few months bju-k collected something between £50 and £60 towards the fund for little Clyde B«dshaw, who unfortunately lost both hands in a shunting accident at Huntly. Mr. .1. V. Bailey. J. 1 ,., the chairman at rhe crmcert, referred to this and to the lads' easerness to help :Uons the movement on foot, and called upon the audience to sriye them -three British cheers," which were vigorously given. The items rendered by the band were highly appreciated. Others who contributed items were Mesrtames fi. A. James, 11. Stewart, and Miss Gib-b: ac-
compjuiists. Mesdames Darby. Cox, and Miss Horsley, Messrs. l\ Knapper. Norman, (i. E. Morgan, W. Valentine, Master N. Box; while the minstrel troupe, under the direction of Mr. <;. Kdgell, kept the audience greatly amused.
