MR. C. F. BOURNE. The passing of a well-known and high-] ly-esteeined educationali.-'C took place°oa Saturday afternoon in the death of Mr.; C. F. Sc-horil, and while there he was selected to fill the heailmnstrrship of the Anek-j land ('-ramnui r School, in succession to j !Mr. Knrqiiliar Macrae. lie arrived with .Mrs. Bourne in ISSB, and in May.' IS!).'!, resigned to take over the head-j mastership of Christ's College, Christ-! church, which appointment he held for! upwards of ten years. During the s-es-' sion of 1007 Mr. Bourne undertook the! duties of the chair of ■classics at Auckland University College, and during 1910 and IiJU held the olliee of tutor atj St. John's College. As scholar and educationalist i the deceased gentleman ranked very i high, and he was largely responsible for; the first conference of the headmasters of New Zealand secondary schools. He lost his eldest son, who was a member, of the Ninth Contingent, through a rail- j way accident while on the tray to the front in South Africa. The funeral will leave his late residence, Albert Road, i Remuera, for Purewa Cemetery to-mor-row afternoon.
