X-AST YEAS'S INCREASE. LONDON, March 24. A Parliamentary paper that lias just ■been issued shows fhat during laist year GT.IiSS emigrants went to Australia,'arid 133,531 to Canada. The departures for Australia reveal an increase of over 1.200. and those for Canada a decrease of 1,100, compared with the previous year. There w an increasing tendency amonoBritish emigrants to remain in "the En> pire, in preference to settling in foreign countries.
