PUTUMAYO HORRORS.
DIRECTORS COGNISAWT. (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, December 18. At the Putumayo scandals inquiry one witness defended the expenditure of £7.000 on rifles, which were required to: resist native attacks. He agreed gener-! ally with Sir Roger Casement's report,! and said that the directors ultimately became aware of the conditions in Putumayo.
