£259 TO THE BAD.

A meeting of creditors in the estate of Robert Peter Hansen, carpenter, of Auckland, was held yesterday afternoon at the office of the Official Assignee (Mr W S Fisher). The liabilities to unseeused creditors totalled £259, and the bankrupt's only assets were given as £41 in book debts, estimated to produce £18. The only secured creditor was the Leyland-O'Brien Timber Company, whose credit of £SSO was alleged to be covered by two sections at Northcote which the bankrupt said be owned. In his statement to the Assigneebankrupt told the not uncommon story of the tradesman who starts in b—linvss with insufficient capital, and after carrying on for a short period becomes hopelessly involved, and has to file his schedule.

Among Hansen's largest creditors were T. Gorton, painter, £46; H. &W. Smailes, carriers, £61: H. l_roa<_, plumber, £33: and H. Buckley, bricklayer, £25. All of his creditors were men connected with the building trade in some form or another. Tlie meeting passed a. resolution expressing dissatisfaction with the conduct of the bankrupt, and instructing the Assignee to oppose his discharge until he paid at least 10/ in the £.
