The Fisheries Amendment Bill, Prevention of ilonopoliea Amendment BiH, Harbour Amendment Bill, Shipping and Seamen's Amendment Bill were passed through, thei? final stages without amendmeirfc. JOSHUA JOKES' (TLATM The Teport of the Joshua Jones' Claimz Committee, recommending £3,000 as an ex grartia payment, was neit considered. Three hours' debate on party lines followed, and (the report was adopted on the voices. Mr McOallum (a member of the committee) dissented from the report, considering Mr Jones had no legal chum on the Staie. ■Mr Statham took the opposite view. COUNTRY TELEPHONIES. The Country Telephones Bill, empowering comity councils and road boards to erect and .maintain telephone lines out of special loans, acting jointly if necessary, waa introdnced by the PostmasterGeneral and passed. SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATES. The Supplementary Estimates were next discussed. The Prime Minister said they included £20,500 increase to pnßHe servants, mostly of the rank and file. He added that justice had scarcely been done to departmental heads.
