BIG CONTRACTS LET. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent! "WAIHI, this day. Some of the big blocks of ore in the Waihi mine will be let on contract shortly to anbifcra±ionist workers. It is understood 4hat tine company liaa large supplies of coal on hand, so thst pumping operations cannot very well be interfered with. The town was very quiet last evening, also ■to-dsy. A number of arbrtratfkraista attended a picture show in the evenings but there was no (booing or-other demonstration. This morning comparatively few strikers or their iwomen were in the streets to witness the workers going to shift. WaHrino residents are tendering a smoke social .to the police stationed at that place this evening. Ladies also give a social in their honour larter. Cominisakmer Cullen is expeoted to arrive in WaiM to-day. Xine more men went to work this morning; six a-t the Waihi Co.'s mine and three at the Grand Junction. Of the Waihi contingent five are experienced miners, including four local men. The total for the week to date is thirty, and the weekly average is nt»w over thirty.
