The water revenue account was £73 17/1 In debit. Accounts amounting to £123 6/8 were passed for payment ST. LUKE'S GTMNASIUM. An enjoyable entertainment was provided at St. Luke's Gymnasium, Remuera Road, last evening, by the combined gymnasia of St. Luke's and Somervel! Bible Class. Vocal items were contributed by Misses Parker and Earle, and pianoforte Items by the Misses Parker and Miss Taylor. Mr. Alan McElwaln provided a number of humorous songs and recitations. There was a large display of gymnastic and dumbbell exercises. Medals for the greatest progress ■made in the season by members of the S.vmnasium were presented to Messrs. G. Pearc<\ K. Georgo, nnd N. Ballantine. A presentation of a pnlr of vases was made by Mr. G. Wilkinson to Mr. (J. F\ UnderWood, as a token of his unfailing endeavour to conduct the gymnasium In happy conjunction with the Bible Class. Mr. Underwood expressed -his gratification, nnd hoped that other pupils would join in what he considered one of the best forms of sport. BIUKfiyHBAD nOROUGH COUNCIL. The fortnightly meeting of the Blrkenbead Council was held last night. The question of a drainage system for Blrkenhead was the subject of a brief discussion, when the monthly report of the sanitary inspector appointed by the Health Department was submitted. The report stated that a number of nonces had been ' served on the residents In Pnlmerston nnd . Telephone Itoads requiring them to abate the nuisance caused by Insufficient drainage. A letter was also read from a lady stating that «he had done all she could in compliance with the Health Department's instructions, and asked when tne Council intended going Id for a proper drainage scheme.
