THE BAILLIE COLLECTION.
1 • ■ "^ SECONDARY SCHOOLBOYS DfWTKD. ! The very fine collection of pictures being ejiown at the room of the Auckland Art Society in Coburg Street by ; Mr. John Baillie is attracting a lot of people, who are appreciating the rare ' opportunity of studying modern British ' art. The collection is of inestimable ' value from an educational point of view, 1 though unfortunately many Autklanders do not realise this. Mr. Baillie, who is ! very keenly interested in this branch of : his work, has invited the boys of the ' Auckland Grammar School and King's College to visit the gallery between 10 ' o'clock and noon on Monday next, when ' lie will show them round. This is an : excellent chance 'for the boys, and no ' doubt the masters will .avail themselves ' fully of Mr. Baillie's generosity. The ' (rallery will be open this evening and ' all day to-morrow. In Wellington ' several valuable pictures were purchased ' by. private citizens and business firms ' and presented to the City Gallery.- It ' is a very favourable opportunity for : lovers of art and patriotic citizens to ] show their regard for their city in this ' way. and it is to be hoped that the 1 Baillie collection will not go away until : some Aucklanders have emulated tlie ' example of Wellington. ;
