The weather during the -whole of to-day, was ideal for golf. The seml-taals were -witnessed by a very large crowd of spectators, -while a good number also .witnessed, the Coronation medal match, in the afternoon. The result of the semi-final leaves Mtos Pcarce and Miss Collins to pray off. The meeting between Miss Pearce and: Mlsa Burnes was the first game. Both, ■players drove off well. Their style of play, ■ was similar throughout, though Miss Burnea drove a longer ball than her opponent. Miss Pearce's approaching was the more accurate. The first hole was won? by Miss Pearca (5 — the second ■was b'alved 1 in six; numher three -went to Mies Burnes (β-r?), making the game all square. The fourth (the Saddle) found M3ss Burnes in difficulties, she pulling &er second shot into the ecrubMiss Pcarce won the hole in ftve. At the fifth Miss Pearce'a drive cleared, tie fence* which her opponent struck in her second. This bole was won by Sites Pearce, who was now 2 up. inhere six and seven, •were halved in five, number 8 was won by Ml** Burses (5—6). The putting of Miss EJurues at Oils stage of the game was very accurate. "Turn" (number 9), -which was halved in five, saw Miss Pearce T. up. At the tenth, both players drove good balls on to the green, and Mies Burnes, getting off a long putt, won the iholo in three. The game was now all square. The eleventh; waa halved in four, and Hie twelfth sawMiss Pearce In. difficulties, getting her second snot under the fence and then into a bunker on the aide of the nfll. ■ The teoie -was -won t>y Miss Barnes tn 5. The same player .won the 13th In 4, again rising to the occasion with n long putt. On the 14th tee Miss Burnes was 2 up. This player here topped her drive, it being only a poor drive. Miss Pearce drove well down the fairway «nd won the hole leaving Miss Bnrnes 1 up. The 15th went to Mise Pearce In 6. Mies Burnes striking a tee box in her third and then badly slicing her fourth. The game was now causing mac hi excitement among the spectators, being all square, and 3 to play. Mi«e Pearce took the honour at the l«th, driving nicely over the swamp., and her example wae followed by fcer. .opponenjt,.,,. path _«ot «ood seconds, Mis* Pearce being a little short in hijr third, lint SUM Burnes was unable to take advantage of the opportunity and foozled the like. >liss Pearce -won the ihole in 5. With the lost two ' holes to go. the gamp stood Miss Pearce 1 up. At the 17th Miss Pparce played an iron, and landed nicely on tie. green. Miss Burnes pulling her mflahie, it left tier a difficult approach to get on eveu terms. Miss Pearce here put an end to the growing excitement by holing out -with a beautiful putt from a distance of about ten feet, thus winning the game 2 u-p and 1 to play. The match between Miss Collins and Mrs. Slack was full of interest and possibilities right through to the 17th hole, where Miss Collins secured the victory, Tlhe play was delightfully varied. After Mrs. Slack had. won the first hole, .Miss Collins secured the next five in succession. A couple at holes were then Salved, when Mr& Stack 'won four in succession, and squared the game. From now on the game was played with; the utmost care liy both -contestants, apd each hole rwas" grimly fought for. At tie ISth hole Mrs. Slack had; a cJuroce for five to win. but halved in 7 through badi potting. At the 14th, Mrs. Stack bad another chance of winning, but failed with, her put, and halved. At the 15th, Miss Collins in 6 had an opportunity to hole out ahead, but halved in 5, the putting again," being the stumbling block. Notwithstanding: the tension which was evidenced by both players, they drove splendidly across the water hazard to "Waterloo." , Mrs. Slack took a wide course to the left -with; her second, and foozled' her third badly, not having the chance of gaining even a half., Mies -Collins holed an easy 5, w%ici gave her a lead of 1 up ■witVohly 2 holes to play. It was ou the carts that she would win even now. because the score had been much against 'tier in each of her previous matches.' At the 17th, Miss ColUns just got to the green, but. Mrs. Slack •was .considerably off line to the left, and: although she approached could! ■not do better than 4.
