WAIKATO ITEMS.
(By Telegraph.Own Correspondent.) HAMJLTOX, this day. The Hamilton Jiorouprli Council has decided to refer the question of the removal of the saJeyards to a more suitable site, to a committee for consideration. As account has been received from Mr. F. W. Butler, late engineer, for £519 for reports ami estimates in connection ■with various works or proposed works. The largest; item, £450, represents 11 per cent commission on a loan of £30,000 not yet sanctioned by the ratepayers. Tin , claim will probably entail " litigation o\vin£ to the fact that the committee failed to make satisfactory arrangements with the two lowest tenderers for the concrete gasholder tank and practically decided to carry out the work by day labour. The. cost is somewhere about £1.600. Mr. H. A. Mackenzie, of the telephone exchange, who has been transferred to Wairoa, Hawke.'s Bay, was presented by his fellow officials with a travelling rug and umbrella as a token of their goodwill.
