Mr. Hugh aicKenzde, of 3feng€i«,. was unanimously elected chairman of the newly-formed 'Manukan County Council this morning for the ensuing year. Mr. William Hfll has been appointed residenr officer at Rotorua for the Department of Agriculture, Commerce, and Tourists. He takes the place of Mr. L. Birks, who has been transferred. Mr. O. C. B. Jordan, Under Secretary of Justice, and Mr. J. Strauchon, Under Secretary of Lands, hare been, appointed members of the Civil Service Officers' Guarantee Board. Captain a-nd Mrs. Strong, English visitors, left by the Main Trunk train last nigbt to catch the MaJinganui at Wellington in order to connect with the Orvicto at Sydney for England. The Revs. Maurice Childs and Baker, of Bath Club, London, who are touring Xew Zealand, left by the express for Rotorua yesterday, and will work their way to Wellington via Wairakei and the Wanganui. Mr. C. C. Kettle. S.M., is at present confined to his bed. and in consequence the Magistrate":* Court sitting 3 hid to he suspended yesterday. The customary Friday list of maintenance cases was •transferred to the. downstairs court this morning, and dealt with by ilr. E. C. Cuttcn " S.M. Mrs. Leo Myers, ■who has been so closely associated 'with that excellent body, the Auckland Kindergarten Association, is resigning owing- ttf Ircr contempla.ted visit to England,' -will extend over some time. The anrrtmnceicent was made at a meeting of the Council of the Association held yesterda v <rfternoo!i. and general regret was expressed at tho fact that the work Avas losing the services of Mra. flyers, who was one of the pioneeTs of the Association.
