A T-aither extraordinary incident took plat-e at Devonport last evening. A young lady, who is a stranger to the borough, was walking along King Kdward Parade about '.) p.m.. and had reached a point, about midway between the Masonic Hotel and Ventn-or boardinghousc when a .man came up bshind her ;ind struck iier a hard blow on one cheek with his open hand. The young lady was greatly startled, and on looking about her saw the man walking away. He was wearing an overcoat and cap. hot otherwise she could not identify him. She supposes (ha! the man mistook her for someone r-Ue. :is she has only ■been a resident of Devonport for a short time.
