« The Dowlais iron works. South Wales, closed during the coal strike, are gradually re-opening. The French Minister and the foreign bankers have arranged a Chinese loan of £10.000.000 redeemable within a year. The case of sicJcness of a Chinese on the steamer Changsa. which arrived at Thursday Island from the East last week, has been diagnosed as one of mild smallpox.
