LOCAL BODIES.

a GREY LYJTS. The Grey Lynn Borougn Council met last night. I'resent: The Major (M.- George Baildon). Crs. C. Norcrove, W. Donald, J. A. Warnock. F. BTinsden, F. Parsons, J. W. Taftersneld. Mr H. Sehofield. the -elected councillor, made the formal declaration and took his seal. The Mayor expressed the pleasure of the Council at Mr Sc-honeld's return to the position, especially as he had been returned unopposed. Committees. —The following committees were agreed to:—Finance: Crs. Garland, Brinsden, Parsons, and Donald. Streets: Crs. Norgj-ove, Sehofield, Thomson. TattersHeld, and Warnock. Sanitation: Crs. Norgrove, Briueden, Sehofield, Thomson, aud Warnock. Fire Brigade and Waterworks: Crs. Brinsden, Garland, Tattersfield, and I'arsous. Francis-street. —It was agreed to accept the offer of C. C. Ness to pay half-cost of laying kerb and channel in front of his premises in Francis-street, also to put iv a permanent crossing at his cost. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Garland, that the Streets Committee report generally • upon the condition of Francis-street. Donation to Exhibition.— A letter was read from the Exhibition Executive Committee asking Grey Lynn Borough Council for a donation. Mr Tattersfield moved that £50 be donated. This was seconded by Mr Donald. An amendment was moved by Mr Garland that the matter be referred to the Finance Committee to report. This was seconded by Mr Sehofield. The amendment was adopted. Local Government Bill. — The Mayor and Cr. Warnock were appointed as delegates to the conference of local bodies at the Municipal Buildings at 11 a.m. nest Wednesday to consider the Local Government Bill. The committee briefly reported that the bill was too heavy, repeated itself in many parts, and overlapped. Wellpark-avenue. —Mr Norgrove moved, and Mr Donald seconded, that the drainage of Wellpark-avenue be attended to. It was agreed that plans be prepared for the work.
