SHAREMARKET.
A decided improvement was in the tone of business on the Exchange this week. Buyers tame in for several stock? not usually quoted, £42 .5/ being offered for Union .Banks and £42 10/ for Colonial Sugar, but no selling figure was quoted- Insurance shares were also firmer this week, As high as 97/6 was offered this morning for JT.Z. Insurance, but sellers asker} 09.. South British were inquired for at 76/. and Nationals at 38/6. Coal shares are in steady demand, and Westports, after selling at 28/ yesterday, -were wanted this morning at 3d advance upon that fcrure. Tanpiris had buyers at 22/. and Northern Coal at 11/6. Wai hi shares closed firmer than they opened on Monday, sales being made up to S9.fi, while Junctions changed hands at 26 '. I nion Steam shares had a sharp rief at the noon call from 51/ to 54/.
