WAREHOUSE EMPLOYEES.
DEMAND FOR INCREASED WAGES AND SHORTER HOURS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Some consternation was caused among the heads of warehouses to-day by demands received from workers in warehouses and stores. These deal with substantial increases of wages and shorter hours, and are sent by the Wellington Amalgamated Society of Merchants' Assistants. Tho Warehousemen's Association met subsequently, and it is understood it will act in conjunction with other businesses affected. It was decided to leave the matter for the present in the hands of the Wellington Employers' Association to arrange a conference.
