THE FERRY SERVICE.
(To the Editor.) . Sir,—Being an AucMander "by birth and having visited some of the largest cities of the worldj I was very pleased to see how this city had advanced during my absence, but there are one or two things I would like to point out to you' as being very far behind the times. One thing I may instance is .the fares of the all-night ferry service. If one happens to miss the 9.30 boat from the Shore on a Sunday night he has to wait a solid hour on the cold wharf until half-past 10, and then, although he has his daily return ticket in his pocket, he has to pay 1/ to get to town—treble, the amount for a similar journey one hour-before. Matters generally in connection with ■ our ferry services require investigation.—l am, eta, AN AUCKLANDER.
