AUCKLAND LIEDERTAFEL.
I . The annual meeting of this society was held last evening at the Cook-street Hall hefore a fall master of the perform ing members. The secretary's report showed that the year now ended was a I strenuous one in many ways, but the I members had worked hao-d, and the rej suits had been entirely satisfactory. The I Treasurer reported that even with tho | increased expenditure consequent upon the extra concerts undertaken, the So- ' ciety had left the neat sum of £105 1 surplus over the year's operations. This surplus will be very much needed when j the new Town Hall is ready for concerts jas it is of this Society to I take a great step in advance of th« pre | vious efforts. I The election of the officers for the ensuing year resulted in the following being chosen: —Patron, Mr. H. Brett; presi- ' den, Mr. J. C. Macky; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. P. Hooten, John Henderson, and G. Mueller; conductor, XXr. Thomas; secretary, Mr. S. J. Harbutt, for the twelfth .time; treasurer, Mr. H. D. Crump; librarian, Mr. J. Strickett; auditor, Mr. A. E. Layland; comnnittee, Mesers. F. Wright, McDonald;' Kinsford, Simpson, and T. B. Rowe; hon. pianist., and accompanist, Mr. Cyril To-wsey. During the evening Mr. J. McCoskrie wa-s tiie recipient of a gold lyre as a regard of 15 years' continuous service. A hearty voie of thanks to the retiring officers was duly acclaimed. The business having been disposed of, the remainder of the evening was spent in a ' social manner.
